One Password, Many Doors
The habit that undoes everything else is reuse: the same password for the online shop, the supplier portal and the company email.
Why it matters even if you are careful
You may never be tricked at all. But some website you signed up to years ago gets breached, and its list of email addresses and passwords ends up circulating. Attackers do not guess — they simply try that pair everywhere else. If your work email uses the same password, they are in, and nothing about it looks like an attack: the password is correct.
You cannot remember sixty different passwords — nobody can. That is exactly the job you hand to the vault. Every account gets its own long, random password, and a breach somewhere else stops being your problem.
Check whether your address has been exposed
Most password managers will tell you which of your saved passwords appear in known breaches, and which ones you have reused. Run that check once — it is usually a short and uncomfortable list, and fixing the top five takes ten minutes.
Start with the accounts that can cost money or reach other accounts: email first, then banking, then anything holding client data.
